On Oct. 25-27, 2017, the table tennis representative team of our college participated in the 8th Liaoning College Table Tennis Competition. After fierce competition, our college player Sun Yueting won the first prize of the women's singles in the college student group in the single competition, the representative team won the Sportsmanship Award in the team competition, and two instructors Sun Lu and Li He were rated as the excellent coach.
This competition was sponsored by the Department of Education of Liaoning Province and undertaken by Liaoning Province Student Sports Development Center and Liaoning Agriculture Technical College. There were more than 170 ping-pong players from 35 colleges of the whole province, and they contended with each other in two stages - team competition and single competition.
In the first stage, the team competition was divided into 8 groups, and each group had 4 teams. In the first group round robin, the top two of each group qualified for the next round and were listed in top 16, and then listed in top 8 after the second round of knockout. Our college was assigned to the first group, including five teams, with another four teams including the defending champion Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, University of Science and Technology Liaoning, Liaoning Vocational Technical College of Modern Service and Yingou Vocational and Technical College. Our college player defeated Dongbei University of Finance and Economics and University of Science and Technology Liaoning with 3:2, beated easily Liaoning Vocational Technical College of Modern Service and Yingou Vocational and Technical College with 5:0, and was listed in top 16 with the group first prize. Our college contended with the reigning champion Shenyang Agricultural University in the second knockout, but was defeated with 2:3, failing to enter the top 8.
In the second stage, the singles adopted the knockout match among 128 players. Our college's four players entered the top 64, top 32 and then top 16 in the first round, but were defeated when going for the top 8. The remaining only female player Sun Yueting still stood fast, contest with powerful opponents one by one through hard struggle and finally won the women's singles champion in the college student group.
In this competition, the table-tennis team of Dalian Art College united as one, contest with the powerful opponent, accept the challenge bravely rather than fear it, passionately rather than recklessly, receiving the respect of other teams, and displaying Dalian Art College students' spiritual outlook of unity, harmony and struggle.
