On July 2, CIID 2016 Young Designers’ Speech Contest hosted by the School of Art & Design Dalian Station was held at the Art Design Building of the College. The 12 artistes from the design industry in various colleges and universities gathered in Dalian Art College.

The contest invited a design institute, design companies and related experts and professors to form a jury, including Associate Professor Liu Shuang, who stands as the Executive Director of CIID China Institute of Interior Design Branch and Associate Dean of Dalian Art College School of Design. The competition was chaired by Zhang Changjiang, the Secretary General of CIID Dalian Special Committee and an Associate Professor of environmental design at Dalian Art College.

12 speakers from colleges and universities in Dalian shared with more than 170 designers and students onsite about the different interpretations of the theme of "Returning to Real Design" in this speech contest. After five experts’ comments and final assessment, Yuan Dezun, Director of the Environmental Arts Research Center of Dalian Medical University School of Fine Arts, and Chief Inspector of Integrated Design, and Zhang Yanxin, a teacher from Dalian Art College, who has designed three restaurants s a whole, stood out from the competition and were named outstanding speakers. Yuan Dezun presented his speech entitled "Design and Thinking on the Aesthetic Community of Yunshan Tingyuan", and Zhang Yanxin was the "Design for Life". They will represent Dalian in the national finals of CIID2016 (Hangzhou) China Architecture Society Interior Design Branch.

The speech contest held at CIID Dalian Station is another measure that shows the characteristics of running and teaching in our college with the guidance of education in the face of society, the world and the future.
