On the morning of January 7, the College held 2015 Dalian Art College Teaching Meeting at the multifunctional lecture hall of the library. The College leaders and all faculty and staff participated and President Wang Xianjun, Dean Yu Jiayou and Assistant Dean Wang Xianzhang made a speech. The meeting made a discussion taking how to further improve education and teaching level and talent cultivation quality of the College and how to further boost the College to walk up the connotative characteristic development road regarding quality improvement as the core as the theme.
The meeting was presided over by Executive Vice-President Wang Jing, at first Dean Yu Jiayou raised several suggestions centering on the meeting theme: we should understand education quality by regarding it as lifeline of the College; and we should ensure the central position of teaching in the talent cultivation; we should concentrate on team construction to promote quality improvement; we should carry out reform and innovation to boost teaching; we should strengthen leading and form resultant force so as to safeguard teaching. Dean Yu put forward the thought of using technology-based university to take the road of connotative development which regards quality improvement as the core, to cultivate applied talents adapting to social need, to firmly establish the theory on school management of “everything serves teaching”, to pay attention to ability training, to strengthen practical teaching link and to lay emphasis on strengthening morality education by combining current practical issues and development tendency faced by the College. And he also proposed that to manage the College by law, implement strict teaching management, stabilize teaching order, increase intensity of supervision of teaching quality and further reform teachers’ evaluation method and stick out teaching performance evaluation at the same time.
Assistant Dean Wang Xianzhang explained Several Suggestions of Dalian Art College on Deepening Teaching Reform and Conducting All-round Improvement of Talent Cultivation Quality and other four documents. He introduced historical retrospection, drafting background, process and characteristic and main spirit, etc. of “Several Suggestions” drafting, and pointed out we should stick to school-running orientation of “running art application-oriented university, cultivating art application-oriented talent”. We should take the road of connotative development, regard professional building as leading role, cultivate compound application innovation talents; we should take strengthening morality education as goal, stably implement teaching reform; we should practical teaching intensity and breadth, enhance teachers’ teaching ability, perfect and implement teaching quality supervision, management and evaluation system and perfect the security system of teaching quality.
Assistant Dean Yang Daoli said: “The founder of the College and I felt honored to carry out butt joint of state-level projects in Beijing, and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries paid much attention and a department chief talked over with us about the project cooperation of holding the large-scale music and painting symphony epic For Forever Peace-Consecrated to Victory Memorial Day of China's Resistance War Against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War together in 2015 in person and military history expert Professor Ma Jun of Lecture Room was invited to give guidance to us which was the most convincing evidence for our strength in running school.”
Assistant Dean Liu Yongfu sighed with emotion and said: “I broadened my horizon after luckily entering CCTV, I was impressed by CCTV stall’s art level and conscientious professional ethics, meanwhile I also pay homage to teachers and students going to Beijing with me from the depth of my heart, visiting CCTV this time had greatly profound and lasting influence on the College, and I was proud of it as witness of development of the College.”
Dean Gao Dalin of School of Music, Assistant Dean Li Kezhen of School of Communication and Conductor Sun Yi of the choir gave a speech.
President Wang Xianjun summarized practical teaching results gained by the College in the recent period and announced several pieces of good news: 1. The choir participating in CCTV New Year Concert achieved complete success; 2. The college determined the cooperation project of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries: the activity holding the large-scale music and painting symphony epic For Forever Peace-Consecrated to Victory Memorial Day of China's Resistance War Against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War in 2015 together; 3. successfully invite 7 experts from national top-level philharmonic society to our College for guidance and giving lesions; 4. Be invited by CCTV, students of School of Communication participated in practical teaching in CCTV; 5. The main meeting-place of major events was set up in Dalian Art College.
At the end of the meeting, President Wang Xianjun congratulated beforehand: “as the New Year begins, let us start a new beginning. I hope that the smooth convening of this teaching meeting is a good start. There are many problems to be considered and solved by us in 2015 and many things to be done by us. We should go out, go throughout the country and go to the world instead of being limited to classroom teaching”
