Xu Ziqi, the dean of Faculty of Costume in Dalian Art College arrived at Jinan Art School at 7:30am on February 10 together with the members of her examination team. Passing through the examine team waiting for examination in a line, they came into a dance classroom. They turned on the air-conditioner at fastest speed, chose the tables and chairs for examiners, prepared sound recorders and commissioned the shooting cameras. 10 minutes later, Bi Linlin, the assistant of Office of Academic Affairs collected their mobile phones away.
February 10 was the first day of art examination in Shandong Province. The examination began at 8:00am officially. 47 teachers in Dalian Art College arrived at the testing center earlier and would examine the examinees majoring in radio and television editor, music performance, dance performance, etc. in 9 classrooms.
In the examination room for fashion show and design, 10 examinees lined up based on the examination number, making a representation and showing skills (T stage show). Other persons would measure their height, BWH and other basic data. The show music was prepared by the college and broadcasted by the examiner. The music for talent and skill show was broadcasted by u-disk, optical disc or mobile phone. The examiners would grade from three aspects of natural conditions, professional performance and skill show based on their performance. In addition to the inborn conditions, such contents as movement coordination, musicality and dress collation would also be graded.
A large number of parents clustered around the gate of Jinan Art School at 9:30am. The examinees arriving at the teaching building received the candidate number in terrace classroom. The examinees approaching examination were led by the workers to the waiting room. Although the outdoor temperature reached subzero and the building was very cold, the examinees practiced in waiting room wearing career apparel and dresses to show their graceful bearing.
On the examination site of musical instrument playing, the pianos all had been prepared well. The examinees played numerous instruments, including Chinese musical instrument (erhu, guzheng, etc.) and western instruments (violin, flute, etc.). Marimba which was scare in the last two years appeared on site for several times. The large-scale instrument shall be lifted by four persons and assembled on site. The examines participating in examination for broadcasting and hosting major shall narrate an off-the-cuff theme and show skills in addition to broadcasting the manuscripts which is drawn. The topics included current news, variety show, environmental protection issues, etc.
Due to numerous examinees, the examiners only had 15 minutes to take box lunch and had rest at the noon. The examination for choreography major finished at 5:00pm. The teacher Dong Xun said: we would tell the examination flow every time when a group of examinees come in. We are parched in mouth and scorched in tongue, while daring not drinking, for fear that the time would be delayed and the examination process would be influenced if you go to the toilet.
It was reported that Office of Admission was responsible for on-site propaganda and registration and the Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for examination organization and implementation to ensure justice and fairness. The Office of Academic Affairs arranged the examination one day before, avoiding the contact with examinees and parents in registration and propaganda stage. The school also stipulated that the teachers shall not participate in the examinee-enrolling work of his/her province. The teachers would carefully review and grade through the video of examination process. In the provinces with numerous examinees, the college-level leaders would supervise the site, ensuring the strictly implement of the examination system and avoiding irregular behaviors.
