"Beautiful, wonderful, superb!" Tonight, "2016 Quintessence of Chinese Culture - Peking Opera High School Tour" (Peking Opera Highlights Special Session) staged in Dalian Art College with the “highlights” presented by the five roles, the Young Male, the Young Female, the Face Painted, the Elderly and the Clown from Liaoning Qingchuang Peking Opera Troupe, a public-service business group established by 10 undergraduates majoring in Peking opera. Now it has been the listed as a key support project by the provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce.

In the theater of School of Film and Television, all seats were occupied by many students who had come to the theater early. Gradually the music was on, and highlights in Peking Opera staged in a round of applause. During the performance, all actors changed rapidly amongst the five roles and tested their ability of singing, reading, acting, and playing martial arts. The Peking Opera piece "Little Shepherd Boy" expressed the scene when the lady asked the way from the shepherd boy in a way of singing and dancing, so pleasing. "Sitting in the Palace" told about the story Silang, who missed his mother much, intended to go for a visit, with the princess’s help against a lot of difficulties. The difficult connection and singing in antiphonal style showed a high level of performance. Another example was the song "Singing About The Opera Faces", in which, a famous sentence must be known to you all. It says in this way: “Dou Erdun, with his face painted blue, attempted to steal a horse of the emperor”. The song “Stealing a Horse of the Emperor” was much more representative in singing, reading, acting, etc. that it would be a tough task for an actor without considerable accomplishments. Then what about our actors? The applause answered this question. "Camping" is a classic repertoire with Old Lady, showing highly stage performance. The show won bursts of applause.

The students who watched the performance said that these highlights had shown the traditional virtues of filial piety, benevolence and integrity as artistic forms and were very splendid. Through those highlights, contemporary college students were more profoundly aware of the amazing Chinese traditional culture and artistic connotation. Dalian Art College attaches great importance to the profound nourishment and educational significance of traditional culture and art to contemporary students. The college not only offers courses related to the intangible cultural heritage such as paper-cut, single-drum dance, but also encourages the introduction of fine arts and culture into projects, tracks and repertoire, and into the process of art practical teaching, receiving innumerable great achievements.

Founded in 2015, Liaoning Qingchuang Peking Opera Troupe is a private one co-founded by several graduates from Shenyang Normal University, majoring in Peking Opera Performance. The troupe was initially supported by the Provincial Department of Graduate Employment, settled in Liaoning Provincial Entrepreneurship Base for Graduates, and has been guided and assisted by leaders, experts and teachers.

As the troupe continues to expand its influence, it has gradually gained the attention of the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce. Under the cordial care and concern of the leaders of the Federation, it officially became a troupe emphatically organized by the Institution under the name of Chamber of Commerce for Youth Entrepreneurship. During this period, the troupe also received the care and help of the Provincial Culture Development Association, Xinhua News Agency Liaoning Branch and Liaoning Daily. Peking Opera masters such as An Yunwu, Li Jingwen, young Peking opera performer Yang Shaopeng and other people in the industry have given encouragement and support to the troupe, and expect these young people to work out a new market-oriented road of Peking Opera.

In 2016, the troupe planned to walk into 10 universities in Liaoning and Shengyang to let the quintessence of Chinese culture sounding in the campus of universities, promote Chinese civilization and excellent culture and art so that more young people could understand Peking Opera and fall in love with it.
