Dalian Art College New Year’s Concert Making the Whole Audience High

The graceful sound of favorite Chinese instrumentals resounded through the theater in the Dalian People's Culture Theatre on December 25. The 2015 New Year’s concert given by Dalian Art College guided guests and friends from all directions to complete the music travel of ringing out the old year in the music melody.

This concert started with enthusiastic and festive Spring Festival Prelude alternately playing national and western orchestral music, and The White-haired Girl Suite and The Red Detachment of Women Suite brought the audience back to the age in their memory. The philharmonic society gave a skillful performance of sonorous drumbeat, forceful and massive rhythm which made the audience seem to be in the war-ridden age. Tchaikovsky’s Russian Dance was rich in Eastern European style and the theme song adapted from American classic movie Forrest Gump won applause and loud shouts of appraisal from the  audience on-site with familiar melody manifesting different style in the form of symphony. As for The Sleigh Ride, “Santa Claus” made a stage pose andcast festive gifts and blessing to the audience under the background of small bell, horsewhip, horseshoe, horses neigh and other acoustics, bringing the scene of sleighing and whipping the horse and riding swiftly on Christmas Day and elated the mood to the field.


The famous conductor, composer, Dean of School of Music of Dalian Art College, Music Director, Permanent Conductor of symphony orchestra of the College, Gao Dalin conducted the Spanish Caprice (Capriccio Espanol) which showed superb performance level of philharmonic society. The Spanish Caprice (Capriccio Espanol) was composed by Russian composer Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov, and it was difficult to play well. The philharmonic society of the College demonstrated Spanish Caprice (Capriccio Espanol) in a different form after rehearsal for several months, presenting a new appearance. The philharmonic society performed another four programs as an encore in the sustained thunderous applause and hurrah. As for The Flight of the Bumble-Bee, the sense of tableau of humble bee wings shaking is taken on, a Flying Free adapted from Phoenix Legend was passionate and dynamic making the whole audience high.
In the festive atmosphere, with wonderful vision for 2015, the New Year’s concert of Dalian Art College successfully completed.

Background information:
The symphony orchestra of Dalian Art College is constituted by experts, professors, teachers and students. It is Mr. Cheng Guanyou that holds the post of music chief who is a European-travel violinist and teacher of the College graduating from National Academy of Music in Odessa, Ukraine. The violinist, Ms. Gao Yang, was the second violin chief of original National Radio Symphony Orchestra and China National Symphony Orchestra, and now she is the professor of the College and the second violinist chief of the symphony orchestra of the College. The viola chief is Zhu Wei who was the violin chief of original China National Symphony Orchestra, and now he is the professor of the College. The violoncello chief is the professor Jiang Lixing of the College, who was the country-level performer of original China National Symphony Orchestra and State Council special allowance winner. The trumpet performer of the symphony orchestra known as “Chinese First Trumpeter” is the professor Ou Cuifeng who was the trumpet chief of original China National Symphony Orchestra, country-level performer and State Council special allowance winner. The overall level of this young symphony orchestra rises to a new height upon their transmission and guidance.
