The Soul of Cherry Melody Rises in Golden Autumn

    On the evening of October 19, the graceful melody of the oratorio Soul of Cherry created by the college, ripples in the air above Dalian People’s Culture Club again.

    The Soul of Cherry, a play selected into Dalian City’s sixth new star and new play show performance event for 2015 and a work chosen from the university professional category, consisting of the overture, four movements and the finale, chants the historic contribution made by Mr. Daisaku Ikeda, founder of Soka University, towards the China- Japan friendship of “Mutual Care and Support of Good Neighborhood”, eulogizes his three main ideas of “Peace, Culture, Education”, and recalls the journey of interaction and exchange between Dalian Art College and Soka University. This oratorio has been created by Dalian Art College; Chairman Wang Xianjun has acted as the chief planner and chief director of the play, and written the lyrics jointly with the college’s playwright Prof. Ruan Zhenming. The college’s playwright and general music director Gao Dalin and young teachers have orchestrated the music.

    It’s learned that the triennial Dalian new star and new play show performance, as an important move and platform for boosting the city’s professional stage artistic creation and introducing excellent artistic professionals, has been successfully held five times so far, and has become a cultural activity brand highly popular with citizens. The sixth new star and new play show performance, with a duration of 9 days, was participated by 18 plays/programs from Dalian’s professional arts groups, art-focused colleges, private arts groups, mass cultural groups, arts societies and associations, and the artistic forms covered Peking Opera, modern drama, variety show/party, acrobatics, oratorio, opera, instrumental concert, chorus, Pingju opera, playlet, sketch etc.
