The gorgeous fireworks highlighted the colorful clothing and boosting youth, and silhouetted against the glorious and brilliant new campus. The closing ceremony of “Colorful Clothing • Youthful Campus – the 3rd exhibition of teaching results in clothing major in national universities and colleges” and the award party were held in new campus in the evening of July 3. The activity was sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of Art Education and contracted by Dalian Art College. 
        The third “Exhibition” covers three contents: expert and teacher speeches, undergraduate costume design competition and the third seminar of practical teaching in clothing majors of colleges and universities. The students majoring in clothing from 33 colleges and universities in 17 provinces participated in the activity. 
       Through intense competition, the students from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Dalian Art College and Guangdong Pei Zheng College won the gold awards. The students from Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, Henan Institute of Engineering, Shandong University of Art & Design and Henan Institute of Science and Technology won the silver awards. Wan Lijun (the deputy director of Art and Sports Department, Ministry of Education, and the deputy director of working committee for the third exhibition), Gu Gongsheng (the secretary-general of working committee for the third exhibition and the secretary of China council for the promotion of art education), Xian Liting (national school inspector and touring commissioner of Ministry of Education), Zhu Entian (the director of review board for college and university setting in Liaoning Province), Li Xin (the honorary chairman of China Council for the Promotion of Dress Culture and the chief expert in China Council for the Promotion of Traditional Culture Clothing Committee), Wang Chong (the chairman of Liaoning Textile and Clothing Association), Wang Xianjun (the college chairman) and Yu Jiayou (the president) presented prize for the award-winning players. 
       To ensure the preciseness, fairness and equity of the competition, the working committee invited seven national famous experts, professors and cloth designers as the judges, inclusive of Yu Zezheng (the first top-10 designer), Zeng Fengfei (the winner of “golden top reward” – highest reward for China fashion designers), etc.

        The teachers and students performed Song of Matador, Chuanghairen and I Want to Fly amidst reward-winning ceremony. The atmosphere was quite hot on site. The competition consummated along with the beautiful song Romantic Dalian. 
        Xu Ziqi, the dean of School of Fashion stated that Dalian Art College has successfully undertaken the competition with the theme “Colorful Clothing • Youthful Campus” for two times. Under normal conditions, the players may participate in the competition by presenting the works to the sponsor. This session specially added the links of “instructions and guidance of experts and lecturers on the spot” and “manual operations of students on the scene”. “The seminar about practical teaching in clothing majors of colleges and universities” highlighted the discussion on the practical and operational ability of the students.

        The operational link mainly is the competition of making effect pictures and 3D cutting clothes. Xu Ziqi said the enterprise regards the operational ability (3D cutting capability, etc.) of students as an important evaluation standard. The competition incorporated the site operation as an important content, which will intuitively and truly investigate the true level of students, and guide the cloth teaching and students in clothing majors. The competitions will closely connect the demands on professional talents in market and enterprises and the cultivation of professional talents. The colleges take the cultivation of students’ skill into daily teaching link and guide the students to pay attention to the skills. 
        Li Xin, the honorary chairman of China Council for the Promotion of Dress Culture and the chief expert in China Council for the Promotion of Traditional Culture Clothing Committee stated: the level of all players participating in the competition is higher than the previous competitions. Some outstanding students stand out and their works express their feeling about the fashion. The expression in clothing skills, the workmanship and accessories fully reflect the overall control of the players.

        She also stated that clothing design was the combination of art and technology. The technology should closely follow the advanced art ideology. The trend of clothing is ever-changing each year. Not only will the design ideology follow with the fashion and trend, but also the technology has latest and innovative expression skills. She wishes the clothing colleges will greatly promote teaching ideology and students’ operational skills through such communication. At present, the clothing enterprise requires comprehensive talents, including the ability in designing effect picture,operational ability and the ability in pattern making, 3D cutting and making. In this way, the students may immediately connect with the enterprises and face wide employment opportunities after graduating. The designers only knowing design but without operational ability are undesirable in the enterprise. Some students majored in clothing design become the pattern makers and will have a bright future, because good pattern makers are the secret weapons of the enterprise with fat salary. In short view, some students may further strengthen operational ability. She wishes the students may pay more attention to the promotion in operational ability through such competitions.
