“Ode to Peace” - the original large audio-visual dance symphony epic finally lifted up its secret veil. On June 29, it performed in the Development Zone Theater. Tonight, the stage was flowing with light and color! Tonight, Dalian Art College shined! Tonight, the shocking attack of “Ode to Peace” excited you and made you forget sleeping!
It was the time that we celebrated our 70th anniversary for the great victory of China anti-Japanese War and world anti-Fascist war. It was to advocate the modern college students remembering history, cherishing martyrs, loving peace and creating the future. We deepened our practical teaching and created the original large audio-visual dance epic “Ode to Peace”. Praising for the historic legacy and great country responsibility of “once taken, for all” is taken as the main line of this show.
What touches our heart is not only for the super excellent and aesthetic audio-visual effect but also our students and teachers’ steady insistence and hard work to prepare for “Ode to Peace”. All these are intertwined in the seven color flower ring. Our love for peace got the best return! The thunderous applause from audience was the best reward for our art pursuit and the highest award for a college to take the social responsibilities. From the original creation “Johann Adam Schall von Bell”, to “Soul of Cherry” and to “Ode to Peace”, we exhibited the splendid part on the stage and showed our spirit of “excellence pursuit, pioneer, and bravery” to all sides of society.
With epic grand style, magnificent music and beautiful dance, LED, light, costume and props, we created a large astonishing symphony epic “Ode to Peace” for the audience in China. From history to now, from the west to the east, “Ode to Peace” highlights the theme of peace through the combined artistic expression of symphony, chorus, national instrument music, dancing and recitation, etc. Praising for the historic legacy and great country responsibility of “once taken, for all” is taken as the main line of this show. We return to the time that people were longing for love and peace. The deepest memory buried in the heart of Chinese people is revealed, reflecting our love and praise for love and peace.
“History” and “epic” are combined perfectly in this show. This show retells the famous historical stories in China, e.g. Zhang Qian’s contribution to Han’s open-up policy to the western countries, Silk Road in the flourishing Tang Dynasty and Zheng He’s travelling to the west. We displayed magnificent scenes on the stage for audience to highly revive the glorious parts of Chinese history with the combination of majestic symphony, traditional Chinese music, leading singing, solo, chorus, recitation, China’s northwest single-drum, Indian dance, Spanish Flamenco, Chinese water-sleeve dance and Russian folk dance. The whole show was glamorous and magnificent. “Ode to Peace” is of great ornamental value and artistic expressive force. This performance is composed of overture, four poetic dramas and epilogue, which respectively are the sunshine of peace, stories of peace, victory of peace, enlightenment of peace, obligations for peace and praise for peace.
We have prepared for this large stage performance for over one year. WANG Xianjun, our chairman, was the general planner, director, and writer of this show. Professor RUAN Zhenming was the writer of this show. GAO Dalin was the composer. Many professors and specially-appointed professors are participated in art creation and acting, e.g. LI She - the previous Assistant Regimental Commander of Central Political Department Chorus, XUE Yong - the leader of actor group of modern drama troupe. Over 700 teachers and students in our school directly participated in performance with the indirect participation of 2000 students.
Dalian Art College also pays attention on the combination of teaching and practice. We focus on the training of practical operational skill and dancing and acting abilities. For this, we have participated in numerous competitions and performances and held various music concerts for 15 years since our first establishment. We have won numerous awards and high praise from society.
WANG Xianjun, the chairman of Dalian Art College, once said that we will take this chance to create a large audio-visual dancing epic “Ode to Peace” with the wish to give the political and ideological education to our college students, train their practical skills and improve their art creation abilities. In the meanwhile, we become the active practicer to deepen the practical activities of Chinese art institute.
We, the students and teachers of Dalian Art College, inheriting the pursuit of “good virtue, exquisite art and beauty”, devoted all our passions and talents to perform an audio-visual dancing epic for the people from all over the world loving peace. We will not stop our pace for artistic exploration and practice. With the high attention of all sides of society, Dalian Art College will transcend our boundary consistently and ascend a larger stage to exhibit our shining splendor.
