School of Fashion was started planning in 2001, and currently, it contains three majors of garment design and engineering, garment and ornament design, performance (garment performance and design).
School of Fashion is of optimized infrastructural facilities, owning garment performance multi-media hall, performance rehearsal hall, garment process practice room, brand garment practice room, garment cutting practice room, garment CAD practice room, and multi-media practice room, totally over 4000 square meters practice base.
The School of Fashion owns a ¡°double professional titled¡± faculty team featured in ¡°good quality, optimized structure, proper amount, complementary advantages¡±. Dean of the school Xu Ziqi is the provincial professional leader, Liaoning ¡°garment design master¡±, Liaoning ¡°Top 10 Fashion Designer¡±, and ¡°industrial pacemaker¡± of Dalian garment association, and ¡°Top 10 Technical Talent¡± of garment industry of Liaoning for memorizing 30th anniversary of opening to the outside world and reform. Deputy dean Cao Jingle was once the president of Dalian Garment Research Institute Occupational Technology School, and has been awarded with national and provincial advanced educator and excellent appraiser for multiple times. Professor Wang Xiuyan has been engaging in garment design and engineering teaching for over 20 years and is the leader of garment design and engineering major. Deputy professor Zhang Zhiyu has obtained two national patents of Garment Bar Patten Making Ruler and Object Surface Measurement Device. Deputy professor Feng Sujie is the Liaoning Top 10 fashion designer. Since 2008, the teachers of School of Fashion have publicly published over 20 teaching materials, published nearly a hundred essays, and awarded with multiple times of best guider and star fostering prize during conduction of students in teaching practice.
The School of Fashion keeps engaging in teaching reform and educating innovation based on correct mastering of talent market movement. We sufficiently take use of good modern and advanced teaching measures and practice condition, focus on close combination of theoretical and practice teaching, focus on teaching characteristics of ¡°cooperation between college and enterprise, link between projects, and combination of manufacture and study¡±, to establish good college-enterprise cooperation relationship with 9 well-known garment enterprises, including Dalian Sifan Garment Co., Ltd, Huludao Derong (Group) Garment Co., Ltd, and organize students to participate in Beijing International Fashion Week, Liaoning International Fashion Week, and Dalian International Fashion Week, thus to consolidate students¡¯ foundation for becoming senior garment talents.
The School of Fashion takes fostering of applicable talents as the goal, strengthens construction of subjects and profession, and obtains obvious achievements in teaching research and scientific research. In 2009, we were awarded the provincial brand major, 2008, we were awarded 1 course as provincial excellent course, 2 items of provincial teaching achievement, 2009 provincial excellent teaching team, 5 provincial projects, 2 items of provincial second prize for scientific research achievements, and 3 items of third prize. We were approved to be the organizer of National College Garment Major Teaching Achievement Exposition by Department of Physical, Health, and Arts Education of the Ministry of Education P.R.C.
Students of School of Fashion have been awarded with various levels of competition prizes of ministry, province, and municipality. For example, Zhang Kan was awarded with the Gold Prize in College Student Garment Model Competition in the First National College Garment Major Teaching Achievement Exposition; Guan Xin was awarded with Gold Prize College Student Garment Design Competition in the Second National College Garment Major Teaching Achievement Exposition; Liu Shuo and Zhao Qing were respectively awarded with Gold Prizes of Campus Life Makeup Group and Creative Makeup Group in College Students Makeup Competition; Han Lin was awarded with second prize and best market value prize in Beijing China International Garment College Students Design Works Competition; Zhao Mingming was awarded with Gold Prize of First Liaoning ¡°Butterfly Shape Cup¡± swimsuit and body building clothes design competition; Chen Huiyue was awarded with Best Creation Prize in Central Committee of the Communist Youth League College Students Commonweal Culture and Art Design Competition; Cui Lei and Zheng Yuan were awarded with Top 10 Models in Fifth Liaoning Top 10 Model Competition, etc. The School of Fashion has been awarded for multiple times of Best Organizer Prize and Best Talent Fostering Prize.
In aspect of talent fostering, we set foot on Liaoning, facing to the whole nation, to convey lots of applicable senor talents to garment industry. Rate of students obtaining both certificates reaches 92%; and the rate of employment reaches over 97%, which proves that we have done positive contribution to garment industry development and talent fostering. And based on this, we are highly praised by the society.
